Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Moonis Elahi was declared an absconder in the money laundering case by a Lahore court on Saturday, according to Express News. Following the court order, the process of freezing Elahi's identity card, passport, bank accounts and properties had also been initiated. The court asked to be provided with the former federal minister's travel information, bank account, passport and identity card details, as well as his correct residential address. Flash floods wreaked havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Chitral district for the second consecutive day on Saturday, with villages Danin, Kari and Ayun besides Koghuzi Valley inundated as the Yarkhun River swelled due to melting glaciers and snow. Rescue efforts were impeded as bridges in Koghuzi Valley and Kari village were damaged and rendered inaccessible by the flood water. A stretch of the Chitral-Booni Road at Nirdeth Gol near Chitral Town was also washed away, cutting off access to affected areas. At least eight more houses and four commercial properties were damaged by the overflowing river water while four motorcycles and several farm animals were swept away by the current, among other possessions. The Supreme Court's (SC) Quetta registry has issued a written order summoning Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in the lawyer’s murder case. In the written order, the PTI chairman has been directed to appear on July 24 at 10:30am. It is stated in the court order that during the hearing, an inquiry was made regarding the absence of the petitioner. According to the lawyer, the applicant could appear on the summons of the court. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday assured the National Assembly that no new taxes would be introduced for the agricultural and construction sectors as part of the nine-month Stand-by Arrangement (SBA) with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Speaking on the Assembly floor today, the finance minister said that he had "promised in the budget that whatever agreement is reached with the IMF will be presented before the parliament". Dar said three copies of documents signed with the IMF have been placed in the National Assembly's library as he noted the "positive role" played by members of parliament in securing the SBA. The federal government has sought time from the Supreme Court to consider the option of giving the right of appeal to the accused persons who are being tried in military courts. These individuals are accused of allegedly vandalising army installations and memorials on May 9. Earlier, the SC had instructed the Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP), Mansoor Awan, to consult with relevant authorities regarding granting the right to appeal to individuals who are currently facing trials in military courts under the Pakistan Army Act, 1952.
