All nine education boards of Punjab have postponed the scheduled annual examinations of matric and intermediate Part-I and II in the wake of the beginning of Ramazan. The exams were set to start on March 3. The boards have now issued a revised schedule for the annual exams. The boards have also released the revised schedule for results and supplementary examinations of matric and intermediate, both parts. All acting chairmen of the education boards have approved the new schedule. According to the revised schedule, the annual exams for matric will commence on March 27, after Eidul Fitr, across Punjab. The results of Class 10 annual exams will be announced on August 6, while the results of Class 9 exams will be declared on September 2. The matric supplementary examinations will begin on October 6, and their results will be announced on December 8. The Hyderi police have registered a case of kidnapping a three-year-old boy from Al-Fatah Family Park in Karachi's North Nazimabad, during a family outing. The CCTV footage, surfaced after the child went missing, shows a woman and a man carrying the child, prompting senior police officials to take notice of the incident. According to the police, the kidnapped child, identified as Muhammad Anas, was with the family and other children from MPR Colony, Orangi Town, during a visit to the park on Sunday. The child reportedly went missing while playing in the park, triggering an immediate search by the family members, which proved unsuccessful. The complainant told the police that the family put up an extensive search in the evening but they did not find Anas anywhere in and around the park. In a rare medical case, doctors at Sheikh Zayed Medical College and Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan have successfully removed an underdeveloped fetus from the chest of a five-year-old boy, in a condition known in medical science as ‘fetus in fetu’. The child, Rehan, was brought to the hospital’s pulmonology department with complaints of persistent cough and breathing difficulties. During medical tests and scans, doctors discovered that a partially developed fetus was present inside his chest, extremely close to the heart and major blood vessels. Given the critical nature of the case, Dr Sultan Mahmood, a senior thoracic surgeon at the hospital, led a highly delicate surgical procedure. A fire broke out at a restaurant located on Tipu Sultan Road in Karachi, reducing goods worth a significant amount to ashes. Firefighters faced difficulties due to heavy smoke filling the premises. No casualties were reported, while an assessment of the financial losses is underway. The fire erupted in the kitchen of the restaurant on Monday afternoon. The Sindh Education and Literacy Department has begun considering a revision of the winter vacation schedule for schools starting from the academic session 2026–27, in view of the increasing severity of cold weather in January instead of December. According to officials, the proposed change is being contemplated due to shifting weather patterns observed over recent years. The matter is set to be included in the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the Education Department’s Steering Committee. If approved, winter vacations across Sindh, including Karachi, would begin in January rather than during the last ten days of December.
