Govt arranges special Hajj flight for parliamentarians

Federal Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar has disclosed that a special Hajj flight has been organised exclusively for the parliamentarians. "Our colleagues want to embark on the sacred pilgrimage, and we have arranged a special flight in collaboration with the Saudi authorities as they were not permitting Hajj flights [now],” Dar said during an address in the National Assembly on Saturday. He further emphasised that this dedicated flight would enable parliamentarians to partake in the Day of Arafah, a significant day in the Islamic calendar, with ease. I urge them to offer prayers on our behalf, seeking the blessings of Allah Almighty to safeguard Pakistan from its current challenges and put the country on the path towards progress and prosperity.” It is worth mentioning that Religious Affairs Minister Senator Talha Mahmood had refused to give VIP Hajj facilities to the members of parliament in May. During a National Assembly session, Mahmood said, “The facilities that will be provided to the common Hujjaj will also be provided to the MPs.” “I have clearly said that no one will perform Hajj for free, neither ministers nor parliamentarians under the VIP protocol,” he had said, adding that they would also stay in tents or similar hotels with ordinary pilgrims. پارلیمنٹیرینز کے لیے خصوصی حج فلائٹ کا انتظام!!#ExpressNews #IshaqDar #hajj2023 pic.twitter.com/juapSVXMNW — Express News (@ExpressNewsPK) June 24, 2023
