Being a teacher

A teacher becomes truly noble when he enters a classroom, delivers a lesson, completes the syllabus, and fully grasps the responsibility of 'being a teacher'. What a teacher can do? Few stories illustrate this better than that of Helen Keller. Deaf and blind from early childhood, Keller faced barriers that could easily have confined her to a life of isolation. Her teacher, Anne Sullivan, refused to see her disabilities as the limits of her potential. Through patience, discipline and an extraordinary commitment to teaching, Sullivan helped Keller communicate, read, write and understand the world around her.
